It's been a long time...

I guess I'm not the best at keeping up with a blog! I say it all on facebook....

I've been going to a knitting circle and really learning how to knit. I'm enjoying learning and making new friends. So far I've made some little creatures using double pointed needles and knitting in the round. I've also made my 1st pair of socks. After making my 1st sock, I was bummed that I had to make a 2nd! I don't think socks are my thing. Maybe if I learn how to make 2 at a time, I'll enjoy it more.

I just completed my crocheted Heloise shawlette and love it! It's exactly what I wanted it to be! :)

I'm still working on my knitted shawlette and my luxury scarf! I love the yarns I've chosen for these 2 projects! I can't wait to finish them so I can wear them!

Musically--- come out to a concert this Sunday--Feb 12th and 2:00pm. It's at the Marine Barracks Annex in SE DC. I'm the coordinator and am performing, too. There will be classical music, and rock! It'll be fun and exciting!!!

Life....

Last week my dad and his wife Bev came to visit. We went out to eat pretty much every day! YUM! I'm trying to get back to exercising... yuck!

I've been working on a scarf and gloves set. It's crocheted. I'm about 75% done with the scarf and 90% done with the gloves. I have to learn how to add a picot edging to finish both. This was a more difficult pattern than I've tried, but the challenge was fun! I can't wait to finish so I can get some wear out of them! I haven't got a lot of time left before spring and warmer weather. I think they'd look great with a jean jacket. I'll post a photo when they're done!

Time goes by

I can't believe how quickly time goes by! It's February already! I crocheted a bunch of hearts for Valentine's Day.... I made Jake a blue hat...

I arranged a Grainger piece for saxophone quartet. Our quartet will be performing that and other Grainger arrangements Feb 20th. Should be fun!

More fun!

I've been having more fun crocheting.... I made a sweet little creature holding a heart and a booby soda can cozy. Too much fun! I'm gonna make each of my friends a crocheted heart for Valentine's Day. I hope it doesn't take toooooooo long! :)

That's my Adipose creature. I'm waiting for the eyes to come in the mail so I can finish the body. The little piece is an arm.

That's my piece of coral--the pink, blue, purple fuzzy one!

Crochet

I've been getting more into crochet lately. I made some coral for the Natural History Museum Hyperbolic Coral Reef Exhibit. It's open until April 2011! You should try to get out and see the exhibit--it's really beautiful. I was very excited to find one of my pieces... they're having a party for the people who contributed to the reef on Saturday--tomorrow! Steve's going with me. Looking forward to meeting other contributors.

I've joined a group on the internet who like to crochet and knit. The website is Ravelry.com. They have a lot of great ideas and some helpful hints. I'm enjoying perusing their site. I found a pattern for an Adipose doll from Dr. Who and have been trying to make that. This is my 1st amigurumi creature. I hope it turns out OK! I've been getting help from Cindy at work. It's been fun learning how to read a pattern. Images will be posted!
